Discover Kataif

An ancient pastry, reimagined for Deerfield Beach

Kataif—also known as kataifi and commonly associated with konafa—is a delicate phyllo dough that is thinly shredded. When baked, it becomes beautifully golden with a light, flaky crunch.

Similar to baklava, kataif is made with phyllo dough—but instead of traditional sheets, it comes in fine, flexible strands that can be shaped, layered and filled with an exciting variety of savory or sweet ingredients. From satisfying entrées to indulgent desserts, kataif adds a deliciously crisp texture that simply cannot be achieved with an ordinary crust.

Enjoyed for generations throughout Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cultures—particularly in Egyptian, Greek and Turkish cuisine—this ancient pastry is finding new appreciation among today’s health-conscious diners. The kataif dough is naturally cholesterol-free and contains very little fat or sodium, also offering a lighter, more versatile alternative to many traditional pie crusts and puff pastries, which are often made with large amounts of butter or shortening.

Vegan by default: Although kataif is traditionally prepared with butter, we use a small amount of coconut oil to bind the dough, making our kataif completely vegan. Please note that individual fillings may contain non-vegan ingredients.

Light, crispy and incredibly versatile—kataif is a unique experience worth trying!
